I've noticed many US skial servers have less than 20 ping despite the fact I'm in australia. Is this only on my end or is skial just actual scum

I see this too, sometimes it says 15 ping (in server list) for a server in Cali despite being in WA. This goes to ~70 when I connect.

Supposition:
a) They filter servers by ping in the in-game browser and keep seeing servers they don't want to.
b) They think the world is flat and ping levels are a clue to exposing the conspiracy.
c) They just like whining.
