For some reason it's a thing now.
It's easy to get one and it deals massive damage. It's pretty much a second chance goomba for soldiers.
I thought it deals around 1500 but sometimes it deals 2700 or something.

Can it be nerfed so it deals a lot less and so the stock shovel can do the same thing. Or just completely remove it

-1 imo the market gardener doesn't need a nerf. It isn't easy to get one if a hale is aware of you or constantly changes his position. It's just like being aware of spies. The hales that get mg-ed are the ones that don't pay attention and move very predictably (ex. moving in a straight line). There is also timing of the mg. It is difficult to master that timing. I believe it also does the same amount of damage as a backstab. Plus mg soldiers aren't viable with maps that have a lack of health packs or are large, which are most VSH maps.
 
-1, pretty sure it does less damage than a backstab, also it's really the only thing that makes soldiers useful on 99% of maps

Nailing hail with a market gardener while rocket jumping is a lot harder than it looks. Backstabbing him as a spy is arguably a lot easier
 
what version are we running? 1.52 (which came out earlier this month) provides, among other updates, some nerfs to the MG:
  • Market garden nerf: 33% less damage if actively parachuting.
  • Successful market garden removes your parachute.
  • After a successful market garden, you must touch the ground again before getting another. (Fixes getting stuck in HHH on teleport for multiple mid-air gardens).
