I'm a new f2p player and I can't join skial servers

I'm a new f2p player and I can't join skial servers
so I've played in casual a bunch but got sick of the bot spam so i've tried out the community servers - aside from just dicking around I've never really had much fun with that and wanted to try some competitive servers so I wen't to skial because word on the street is that it's where people go to play serious games.

every time I click on a skial server I get disconnected and an appeal notification pops up, do I need to sign into a skial website to play on them? or do I have some sort of "noob status" issue that I need to wait out before I can join.

I honestly don't know what to do, I have seen a bot with the same name as me in casual (the main reason as to why I left because getting dominated by yourself is annoying) but I seriously doubt that its that easy to impersonate someone else on tf2 so that's probably not related to my current issue.

any advice on what I should do?
