So W+M1 is a massive problem. it's too effective. This is my idea
To start out with, we want to reward pyros for comboing effectively. To start this the flamethrower, when fired, will deal its max damage of around 30-60 DPS. however, after a few seconds, the damage will begin to fall off. This ensures that spamming it and just walking forward will cause the damage to fall to 10-20 DPS. To reset this, a pyro would switch to their secondary and fire it.

No, I think I'll just run straight at you and hold mouse1 with my primary out, its much easier

some additions I thought about while sitting on a toilet

ammo consumption will become faster the longer flames are being used
after 5-10 seconds of not using the flames, the falloff will be reset
the increased damage from starting the flames will be affected by range
melee hits also reset the falloff
rewarding airblasting pyros with a +20 ammo refill for each kill with a reflected projectile
+20 ammo refill does not stack (for example killing 3 targets with one reflected rocket will still give you +20 ammo)
