I have a question about picking parts for a computer. Is 8 gb of RAM good enough to play most games on good settings? Or will I need 16?

What are you doing? For just gaming, 8 gigs will suffice. If you are into heavier stuff such as media production, I'd go 12-16. That said, I'd only go with 12-16 if I also had a GPU / CPU to really utilize it (like an intel i7, etc).

I wouldn't be too concerned for RAM, you can get 8gb now (hard to tell as I couldn't find a budget to work with, but 8gb is a good solid standard for gaming/pretty much anything else), and along the line you find out you need more, you can always add more in later, its not difficult, (provided your mobo has enough RAM slots)
