Problem solved. Gimp tools not working.

Alright, so I recently started to use gimp to alter my photos. Please don't tell me to buy photoshop. I had been working on this picture yesterday and It worked perfectly fine. I then turned off my computer and now none of the tools that effect the layer work. This means I can still scale, but I cannot erase or paint. When I click on the paint icon in the toolbox and then move it over to the image, the little dashed circle does not show up which is very odd. Additionally, If I go to the undo tab, it says "undo eraser/paint" although I can see no change to the image. I am on the correct layer, and I have no idea what is happening. I have reset my computer, reinstalled gimp, but no success. If anyone could help me that would be awesome.

Got any screenshots? It could be a number of problems.

Try re-selecting part of the image, or adjust the opacity of your brush.

Try hitting "Select" up at the top bar, and then "All".

I did. Flanky told me to just open the tool option thing and it fixed it. didn't even change anything. Thanks though.
