I'm not really knowledgeable with sony but i'll try my best here. from what I know the A77 is a really good all around camera and your lens selection should probably go in-sync with it's strengths. If money if no object I would go for the 16-80, it's a great all purpose lens, crisp quality, faster focus, etc..
