@JohnnyGaloshes - Car was running warm A/C while idling several weeks ago. Started to overheat (high temp gauge) and smoke/steam. Took it to mechanic. Turns out radiator fan assembly had melted. It was replaced. Everything else in car and engine looked good.
Today while driving home in 10mph traffic (essentially stop & go / idling), the A/C started running warm again, but I didn't check the temp gauge, as I was almost to dinner (about 10-15 minutes after the A/C started blowing warm air).
Came back out with dinner about 5 minutes later and drove the 10 minutes back home, and it was blowing warm air and the temp gauge was steadily rising towards the extreme zone. I turned the A/C off the rest of the way home. When I got home, I went to let my dog out and then checked on the car.
The coolant level was still good. I started the car, and the serpentine belt on the engine was running smooth. Only one of my radiator fans was spinning, but my dad said the second only comes on if it is needed, so I'm not sure if that's what was up. The A/C was also blowing cool air. So, I am gonna go into work late and take it to the mechanic and see what they can diagnose on it. :(
Not the whole thing that melted. I saw it myself when they showed my last time. Not sure what is up this time though. And it's been 2 weeks since everything was replaced and just now started acting up again, so it can't be something that's just been stuck since then, you know?
hi fam - all good now. Apparently the connectors of one fan in my dual fan assembly were loose, as the mechanic who installed the new assembly did not make sure they were completely connected and locked in.
