Depends on the model. Our family's iMac G3 (used for 5+ yrs) still works and it's over 10 years old. Our iMac G4 stopped working after 5 years it was purchased.

I've had this one for a year or two now and it's still going strong, so long as you unclog the virus drain of myth. However, I had a Mac mini for years and it still works, not that I use it
