As the title suggests, I would like to see a ping lock implemented on VSH servers, specifically for the hale. As most VSH players could agree, getting hit and killed by someone who wasn't near you at all is unfair and you have to sit out the rest of the round because of it. I would like to see a ping lock that won't allow people with 150+ ping to play as the hale. There are certain servers that are dedicated to certain regions (US, EU, etc) and someone with 150+ ping probably does not belong in that region, and probably has a server closer to their respective region. If someone becomes the hale with 150+ ping I suggest we prevent them with a message explaining their ping is too high or kick them with the same message. If you have other ideas leave them down below.

I can only land stabs on hales with more ping than me (100+)
otherwise i'd have to permanently go engie

Ping alone doesn't mean anything, you can still play with 200+ ping with no issues. What mainly causes issues is when your ping fluctuates.
Someone with a steady 180 ping will have a better experience than someone who's ping keeps jumping between 30 and 100.

As a guy who plays with 200+ ping all the time trust me it's more unfair for the person who plays with high ping considering most of our hits never register, especially the ones that definitely should.
Anyone with a constant value of high ping (<300) should not be that hard to kill and you're at nearly no disadvantage. Problems come with players whose pings fluctuate up and down.

Well this thread is not off to a great start, so I'm going to attempt to address some of the things you all have suggested/commented.

Ping fluctuation is not the problem here. I have seen very few hales in my 5+ years of VSH experience that had ping fluctuation issues. When someone with 150+ ping becomes the hale, they tend to be lagging severely and the round does not last very long. It only serves as free damage for spies (and gomba scouts maybe) and wastes everyone's time with 30 second round.

If you are on a server and have 200+ ping, I would like to recommend that you go to a server that is closer to your region if you are able. (If the closest server to your region is the one that you have 200 ping on, then that is an issue for another thread). I do not have the right to tell you what servers you can and can't go on, but I do not want to see anyone else's experience ruined because of a lagging hale. Although its true that these hales are mostly easy to beat, it wastes everyone's time and very little fun comes out of that round.

This suggestion is meant to help players have a better experience on VSH overall, and I wouldn't mind if we raise the ping limit to 200. (But that really won't do much since I rarely see people with 200+ ping as the hale on VSH servers).

Any boss with a constant high ping does not lag around the map and if they do that's their internet messing up for them. The only downside is the fact that a few of their kills in a round are considered unfair because they manage to hit impossible shots. That does not waste anyone's time or their experience on the server and it should not call for a ping limit.
Anyhows adding a ping lock would seriously take off interest for most Asian players playing on the servers so this thread is more than likely getting declined.

It would be pretty unfair to prevent people from joining whatever server they want, regardless of their ping. Droplet is friends with me and some others that play on the FF2 server, for instance, and basically forcing him to go to an EU server simply because of his high ping would be unfair to him because he wouldn't be able to play with us. The hitreg can be iffy, yes, but it would still be very unfair to people who just want to enjoy the servers.

I don't understand what the actual problem is that you are trying to get across.
Firstly you seem to say that hale gets an unfair advantage and kills people too easily
getting hit and killed by someone who wasn't near you at all is unfair and you have to sit out the rest of the round because of it
Then you say
Although its true that these hales are mostly easy to beat, it wastes everyone's time and very little fun comes out of that round.

I am stuck with shitty Windstream connection because no other ISP is available in my Kentucky, and I get around 100-200 ping on average in U.S. servers, with ping upwards to 2000 when Windstream really feels like reminding me they are the only choice I have.

There's no reason to disable it. We limited lag compensation to 250 ms, and it also makes them easier to kill.
