0 has always been the defacto way to close it, yet for some reason it just... stopped working for me so I'm stuck with it on my screen at all times. Any ideas? Other ways to close it?

This happened to me once when I had accidentally unbinded/rebinded the key. I'm not even sure how I fixed it. Have you mapped that key to anything recently?

I have not. That said, I did recently revert to an older setup... maybe if I bind/unbind in console?

That means you unbinded or binded 0 to something else.

here's a console fix for the 0 bind so you don't have to reset every bind:
