Ok I know this thread is resolved and I ended up being a clown to everyone reading this but I forgot to say something. basically the vote was failed and the pyro survived it but died to hale later so, nothing really changed.. I've seen countless of people vote slaying the delayers and they succeed, and it makes me a bit disappointed to see you put effort to punish a guy with a failed slay vote. So you're either overreacting or report every single one of those folks.

It doesn't matter if the vote didn't succeed, you still abused the votemenu.

We can't be on the server all the time to catch vote abusers. We rely on you, the players, to report rule breakers so they get punished.

If people are breaking the rules, report them and we'll handle them. If you feel it's too much of a PITA to report them and would rather complain about them and accuse us of overreacting because you were caught and reported; frankly, you shouldn't complain at all.

I'm legit lost, can you show me what the rules say about this? I really want to know why doing something that did not change the result of a match made me end up here looking retarded.

I'm not Jerma but I'm in your timezone so might as well.

Skial has always gagged for voteabuse not because of the end result (which in most cases is irrelevant) but because calling a random vote, be it on yourself on someone else, makes the votemenu unusable for a while.
As you probably already know, it has a cooldown. That's precisely why calling a vote on yourself was always sanctioned. There's no direct victim, but you're impeding the votemenu system.

even though Bottiger made it impossible to do as of recently (calling votes on yourself) it goes to show you that its not about the possible end result or the "victim", more about how you use the votemenu and how you put it cooldown when it could be severely needed soon after.

So that's how it goes. thanks for reply but I will admit I had no idea about these until I asked the question. I was kinda relying on these people who consntantly rate my comments dumb to politely tell me the reason but meh. Finally got the real answer and it's not obvious ngl.

It's not, but the average player's attention span is low enough to not allow for longer server rules.

Voteabuse is specific because on one side the result matters (wrongfully votebanning someone) but also abusing the system itself and preventing its use. I can agree with you that the latter doesnt jump to mind.

In any case, you only got a day silence which should be over by now.. just be mindful of using votemenu against players doing things against the rules, not when they're being annoying or inconvenient.
