the competitive environment nurtures aggressive attitudes. i think this is something people should just learn to accept when they join an online match on an m-rated game.
Are you saying that people that play 24/7 2fort care about being competitive?

There comes a big, BIG problem with trying to suppress what we call "harassment."
Everyone has a different degree of what they consider harassment. How long before it just becomes an authoritarian method of silencing people who so much as say anything the slightest bit wrong in the eyes of the staff (not that they do this, but follow the point), or how long before players are given too much power to call anything that they CHOOSE to be offended at as 'harassment'?
How come people in bars, restaurants, theaters, stores, playgrounds, and anywhere else in society have already determined what is acceptable behavior and what isn't.
How come it's such an impossible feat to accomplish in a community server in a free-to-play online video game, that also happens to be over 10years old?

You'd be wrong, people couldn't care less about capturing the intel on skial 2fort servers, in most cases it's seen as an annoyance because often it'll completely reset the round and force respawns.

you'd be wrong to assume that the intelligence is the thing that makes it competitive.

You're not completely wrong Ty. It's a video game where two team are against each other. Doesn't matter if it's tdm or ctf, it'll alway lead to competition. It's naive to think just because there's people don't play the objective automatically makes it less competitive.

I mean why do you need it to be even a rule it's mainstream as fuck

I can call my best friends assholes and they would just ignore me and deal with it

At first I thought it was a huge harassment problem but now it's just someone where I think you can't take what people say to you.

Because people aren't anonymous in bars, restaurants, theaters, stores, and playgrounds. Also, what the fuck were you not a kid? Kids are constantly cursing and talking shit on each other on a playground. Also not to mention, we have a large amount of paid people to keep the peace in IRL situations. Online, there are a few volunteers dedicated to helping out. Asking them to police everything, including when someone hurts your feelings is a bit extreme. Clientside mute keeps people muted literally forever, !ignore will block their voice comms until they reconnect or you do. There are tools at your disposal, use them.

Trolling has been online since it's inception, and most people know by now that giving a response (at all) to a troll, is just encouraging the behavior further. If one user in particular is giving you a bad problem, screenshot it, and bring it to an admin. Meowcenary and Odin or whatever the hell he goes by on here have always been willing to help when I need an admin for whatever reason. Be proactive in solving the problem yourself, don't expect others to babysit you.

How to deal with a group of trolls who join the server exclusively to tryhard you and taunt you? Or, if in the same team, not healing specifically you or giving away your position to enemies by hoping to ruin your gameplay?

Antamania already mentioned this before.

Add an admin, message them through the forums, whatever. If you feel like its taking it too far, we'll look at it. "Toxicity", especially on the internet is going to be a case by case basis. There's a world of difference between calling someone an asshat versus telling someone to kill themselves on a daily basis.

Who cares if they're taunting you? It's part of the game, I reward people who do it to me lol. Taunting is supposed to be a slap in your face, that's the entire point of it being in the game. I don't expect pub medics to heal me in any case, people are entitled to play medic how they want to play medic if I want heals, I'll ask my friend to swap. If they're doing things that are griefing you while on your team, you can call an admin for that.

Most of these problems are easily solved - if they are being annoying join a different server, if they follow you and harass you, then you can bring an admin in as it's happened before on here.

okay, let's get back to oni's sensitivity problem

first is that why should there be a rule against harassment? i mean look at all these people cursing each other in gta 5 and even in kid-friendly games like roblox.
you can't ban something that's already mainstream in the community, if done so expect alot of backlash, and in turn Skial will slowly die out.

second is, learn about freedom of speech, if Skial prohibited harassment then it would technically be communist, and you already know no one wants communism.
