Herro, I've been having some trouble moving my character in games such as tf2, left 4 dead, and csgo. Once in about every 5 minutes, my character will randomly move in a constant direction after I had just lifted my finger off of that key. It does this for the WASD movement keys. The laptop is brand new, and was wondering if you guys could help with this.

The constant motion will stop after I re-press the key I was constantly moving. (So if I was moving constantly to the right, I'd press the "D" key, and I would stop and would play normally for 5 minutes until it does it again.)

Open Notepad.
Hold the following keys (do not let go):
  • Hold A
  • Then, Hold S
  • Then, Hold D
  • Then, Hold F
  • Then, Hold G
  • Then, Hold H
  • Then, Hold J
  • Then, Hold K
  • Then, Hold L
I suspect that, at some point, the new character will not appear.
For instance, if I do this:
aaaaaaaassssssssddddddddffffffgggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggg
For me, my external keyboard only takes the first five inuts. If I'm right, this could be your problem.
Some keyboards accept different number of inputs to others (for instance, the one on my laptop):
aaaaaasssssssssdddddffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff

My guess is that whilst you are playing your game, you are pressing more than this number of keys.
Depending on the engine, it may keep moving you in that last key direction.

Hi, thanks for responding Luke

I tried it out for abit, and it seems like the new characters are indeed appearing.

The processor is an Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-7500U CPU @2.70GHz 2.90GHz

It's an HP Envy

I have had this problem for as long as I have had my own laptop (about 2-3 years) and have yet to find a solution other than to just press the button to stop the action.

Try uninstalling the keyboard drivers from the device manager and let windows install them by itself. Most of the time such problems are caused by driver problems unless there is a hardware issue.

I tried it, and it did not work unfortunately. I also tried to unbind the movement keys and rebind them to each game, still no luck.
