“Use the Services or Content, or any portion thereof, for any commercial purpose or for the benefit of any third party or in any manner not permitted by these Terms;"
Then proceeds to not provide any terms.

“Use the Services or Content, or any portion thereof, for any commercial purpose or for the benefit of any third party or in any manner not permitted by these Terms;” I am pretty sure showing advertisements is going against this term.
Well, if that's the case, then why hasn't valve enacted action on such a term like this?
And, besides, advertisements on community servers is more often than not, the primary form of income for a server, with donations coming second, it takes alot to keep popular servers like these up, and with advertisements, lightens the price drastically, if not entirely for it.

Yeah let me just take my entire night to read through that.

Why provide actual meat to my argument when I can just tell someone the equivalent of "Do your own research"

I expect you to go call out every community that runs advertisements in the MOTD.

Awfully assumptious to implicate we're taking your personal identifying information. There is very little information exchanged between the player, the server, and the advertisements. None of it is is of any relevance aside your Steam3ID. You have a bigger problem that isn't with community servers if you have personal information stored in your steam acount

No they are not. You and everyone else are being shown generic ads. Like ads you watch on TV. These advertisers don't have a clue who you are.

Holy fucking shit man......

I think you've been reading up one too many conspiracy theories.

You might want to actually want to read the whole page and not just google "steam terms of service".

This is for the game "Rec Room".

Valve actually has a precedent of supporting advertisements, most notably when they partnered with Pinion (a major advertising firm targeted towards gaming servers) even giving one of the Pinion reps moderator status on the steam forums.

Of course this was met with stiff opposition as Pinion attempted to garner views on the ads by forcing the HTML window to stay open, sometimes even during gameplay. It created enough backlash such that Valve silently withdrew from this partnership and Pinion soon faded out of the TF2 community.

But definitely not something Valve considers actionable, especially when the ads aren't being forced.

in any manner not permitted by these Terms
You only need to read again what you pasted to get the answer to your dilema. "in any manner NOT PERMITTED BY THESE TERMS"
It doesn't say "Use the Services or Content, or any portion thereof, for any commercial purpose or for the benefit of any third party IN ANY MANNER WHATSOEVER"
