There's too much bangers and mash up in this thread. I feel the need to peel out in an over-sized truck while eating a greasy hamburger.

Ay glad to know I'm not the only high functioning alcoholic in this place
Tho I finally somewhat quit and just sticking to a few beers a week, replaced getting drunk every night with just vaping a bit of weed, goddamn it feels good to wake up happy and remember what I did the night before

Glad you got some control man, I think you must have (and must maintain) a good support network within family and friends.

It's not perfect but it's not too bad, in the end I just got tired of falling asleep drunk and waking up feeling like shit, not to mention getting shaky as fuck after just drinking one or two energy drinks, especially when out in public
I still have beer a couple times a week, but haven't gotten blackout drunk in like 2 weeks, gotta beat that alcoholism that's running in both sides of the family before shit gets out of hand
Hopefully you find a way out too my man

Ya mutha, you got my mouth watering, but I gotta abstain, am on the wagon for good this time. Last 3 binges saw me in a cell twice and then detained under section 136. Shit fucks me up bad.

You've gotta help yourself lad, seems like you've had a few problems with the fellow drink. It can honestly fuck everything up if not handled with care, small doses is key. I can imagine you're doing good now though, stay strong brother.

Even small doses are bad, my friend.
I'm not the best person to, but I'd argue against that. Unless you have an actual problem, there's absolutely nothing wrong with having a drink once in a while, whether you're out and about with friends or just at home chilling.
Alcohol isn't inherently bad. It's not good, I mean, it's literally poison we ingest, but guess what, so are sugar and caffeine, yet those are taken daily even by children. Not trying to say that makes it okay, but if you're of age in the country you live in and decide to have a drink, why not?

I was sober and clean for 7 years once, best 7 years of my life. Been 3 weeks since my last episode which took me to a real crisis point. Good shit came from it though, it gave me the opportunity to quit a 15 year habit of abusing over the counter painkillers (I was up to 600mg of codeine a day, every day). I think for people like you and me who love the 'buzz' we end up at a Y in the road, take the hard road everytime bro, no shame to admit you are powerless to walk down it on your own (that prides a killer man). The one thing I got from it all is that there are people out there who genuinely care, it was me that didn't give a shit.
Look for the triggers as to why you decide to go from a couple of beers to being absolutely wankered and put everything you can in place to avoid them triggers.
Not saying you have, but you may have a poisonous parrot https://www.getselfhelp.co.uk/parrot.htm shutting that cunt up can help in so many ways.

Like I said before, it's not a problem until it costs you more than money. For some that may never happen, for others it happens extremely fast. It's like playing Russian roulette really.

I've never had any particularly positive or negative experiences with alcohol. For me, I can drink it casually every once in a while and be fine, and I'm fortunate for that cause that's not the case for everyone. I'd rather be sober or drink even less than I currently do cause I'd rather have a healthier heart when I'm older.

I have to agree with Toxik, many people love having a drink with friends and honestly it's nice when you're all together. The matter at hand is don't overextend your limit and step into the deep side of acholism that Maddo and Toxik have experienced, they are bright lads and have just gone through a bad phrase.

Much love brothers.

Well, this American doctor would argue!

Solid cherry pick of my post. Never specified what a drink every once in a great while is and also followed it up with saying "I'd rather be sober or drink even less than I currently do cause I'd rather have a healthier heart when I'm older." The only reason a drink ever goes into me is because of a family event or social situation, which basically means I have a drink monthly at the absolute most frequent of estimates.

Well, this American doctor would argue!

Video is bias, doctor says "here is the brain of a woman who drinks alcohol" he doesn't quantify how much she drinks. it is the Arab who says "even a little bit of what intoxicates is bad"
Did you know you can actually get drunk on water? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Water_intoxication This blows the Arabs analogy out of the water. The video is religious propaganda.
You may find the video below interesting (if you can follow what the Chinese guy is saying...) Basically, staying in a dark room long enough produces melatonin in the pineal gland, which when reaches a certain level, naturally converts to 5 MeO DMT, which will eventually convert to DMT. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/N,N-Dimethyltryptamine so is the dark bad for you?

Video is bias, doctor says "here is the brain of a woman who drinks alcohol" he doesn't quantify how much she drinks.
The doctor said, if you listen closely: "And when we look at people who drink alcohol, even socially - Here’s a young woman, who drinks alcohol - this is one of the problems, you know, people come to us and they’ll say, "I don’t use drugs.."
"Well, do you drink alcohol?" "Oh yeah, I drink a little bit, I drink socially, on the weekends.." - So, when we do these kinds of images, we can show them: this is what your brain looks like!

He was speaking about the people that come to him, saying that they "only drink a little bit, on the weekends.." and not addicts, and/or people that do drugs...

Why don’t you go to your local doctor and ask him about it?
The video is religious propaganda.
Friend, how is it "religious propaganda," if he’s showing the opinions of irreligious doctors?

That doctor said at the end:

"And then we want to avoid bad, and do good! So, the first thing you do, is get rid of the toxin! You need to stop drinking alcohol."

By doing a small research on alcohol, you can find that it causes:
  • Slurred speech
  • Drowsiness
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhea
  • Upset stomach
  • Headaches
  • Breathing difficulties
  • Distorted vision and hearing
  • Impaired judgment
  • Decreased perception and coordination
  • Unconsciousness
  • Anemia (loss of red blood cells)
  • Coma
  • Blackouts (memory lapses, where the drinker cannot remember events that occurred while under the influence).
The whole purpose of the documentary is to show the opinions of irreligious doctors about alcohol.

You think I don't know about alcohol? I know it's dangers I also know how editing a video can be used for propaganda "Propaganda is information that is not objective and is used primarily to influence an audience and further an agenda, often by presenting facts selectively to encourage a particular synthesis or perception" I admit I may be wrong about the religious connotations, having not watched the whole video, but I would guess this guy is an advocate for Sharia law.
