The gun debate isn't progressing past "from my cold, dead hands" no matter how many morons whine about a glorified varmint rifle or how many bigger morons buy one and spend thousands on aftermarket attachments.

Hate that California pistols have to be 10+1 capacity since that's the one metric I care about for self-defense, but whatever. Oh and open carry is stupid.

We can rapidly say who or what should be bannable in a video game or not, because in the end, does it really matter?

So in a situation where people's lives are at stake, where it DOES matter, then we shouldn't try to decide what is ban-able or not? Because:

In real life you don't respawn btw

We are the only country that has this problem. We are also the only country hands out AR-15s like candy.

I assume that the 'glorified varmit rifle' that you are talking about is the AR-15? If so I think that is an oversimplification. The AR-15 has a much higher bullet velocity than handguns. This causes way more damage when penetrating human flesh. The bullet velocity causes an effect called 'cavitation' where the shock waves from the bullet passing through the body can cause damage to areas at quite a distance from where it actually physically touches.

I think AR-15s cost a bit more than candy for us to give it out as such.

You're right lets ban the AR because then killers wont have any guns to use for murder......banning a certain type of gun is not the answer. Getting law enforcement and the medical community in sync would do more imo.

Thank God that rifle has one redeeming quality.

The AR-15 makes is easy to kill a lot of people quickly. I work in a school our school resource officer told us at the beginning of the year that school shooters goal is to kill as many people as possible, to “get the high score.” If they only have handguns, deer rifles and shotguns they lose the motivation. Even if someone still does it; it decreases the number of fatalities.

I totally agree. It is all about the rate of fire. The AR15 + bumpstock is the reason the Las Vegas shooter was able to kill so many people. Imagine how many less people would have died if he wasn't firing 15 rounds per second. Somebody here try to justify why you need to be able to fire 15 rounds per second for hunting, or for self defense???

A lot of rifles are semi auto. Yes the bump stock is bs and should go away. I guess out of all the rifles I've fired the AR was the least impressive of them.

I just see it as you take one away the person is going to move onto the next rifle. If they want to kill they will find a way. Ridiculous that we live in a time sick bastards shoot up schools, churches etc.

Was the AR-15 least impressive because of the really low recoil? Because that is a feature. Makes it easy to shoot.

I also agree that it is ridiculous that we live in a time sick bastards shoot up schools, churches etc. But the guns seem to be a common denominator. Australia has a mass shooting in 1998 (I believe) they enacted strict gun restrictions and they haven't had any since. Japan treats gun ownership as a privilege with a huge burden on gun owners. They do not have gun violence problems. Let's try some sort of moratorium, limit AR-15 style weapons, high capacity magazines etc. for like 3-4 years. If you own one, fine, just put it away and it can be a don't-ask-don't-tell situation, but no new AR-15s should be sold. If during those years, there is no change, or gun deaths increase? Fine I admit that I am wrong, AR-15s are not the problem, we can cross them off the list and we can try other options. But so far after every mass shooting ZERO things change. And that is bullshit. We have to try to make a change. Try to change SOMETHING.

Here is some documentation of the deadliness of AR-15s:

It's a pain in the ass.
well if they ban all AR-15s and you ARE motivated enough to shoot up your public location, just grab a legal 3d printer and build your own AR15, we gotta preemptively ban 3D printers in a brand new campaign.

I think 3D printed lower receivers break pretty easy but that seems like something that won't be an issue in 10 years.
