Hey - Would really appreciate any help. I haven't played tf2 in like two weeks because last time I was on the server for all of 60 seconds before my game froze while the ads were playing.

I tried to get on again, and it took like 2 minutes before the buttons came up. It was initially just the background.

However, even right now, it freezes every couple minutes and stays frozen for a minute or so. When it's not frozen and/or even during normal gameplay, it's using over 1 GB of memory. My ping is also way too high - 100ms or so. Chicago to ATL should not be that high. Is this tf2 related, or is there something up with my computer and/or internet?

Thanks guys.

I have 16 GB of ram (maxed out), and I still had over 5 GB of ram still available while TF2 was running. That is not the issue.

When I was booting up TF2 while being on another community server I had a lot of demos recorded and saved to the tf2 folder. It took forever to boot the game. I didn't think it would affect my game in any way but someone suggested moving old unnecessary demos to another folder somewhere else on my computer and it worked.

After that I uninstalled and reinstalled TF2 and I no longer had loading and performance issues.

Dunno if those could help but try uninstalling and reinstalling Tf2 maybe? (Not sure if this would have any effect on your ping) Good luck.

I'm having a similar problem, but mine will like freeze for 1 second then unfreeze. It happens like every 5-10 minutes or so, I haven't been able to figure out what seems to be causing it.

I am running 16GB RAM, Ryzen 7 1800x and RX580 and I shouldn't be having this kind of problem.
