As a citizen of the United States, I and every other citizen of said union of 50 states (plus territories) have the right to project opinions on/ be ceded with many bound subjects.

An excerpt from The First Amendment.

"The First Amendment guarantees freedoms concerning religion, expression, assembly, and the right to petition."

Now, I want you, yes you, the individual, to look at a certain phrase of this document, that The First Amendment guarantees the right to expression.

I would like the butt-hurt, sensitive, and trigger-happy of Skial staff, to read this over.

Now I`m well aware that the United States isn`t the only country in the world, some Skial staff reside outside of the United States, and this document of my somewhat butt-hurt ranting can be considered a part of favoritism. It`s just that this is also the internet, and millions of people across the world have access to it. A portion of those people get their access from other countries, usually ones that give their residents basic human rights, their nation`s leaders plus their nation's public probably look up to the Amendments of the United States too as a example for their path or destiny as I do.

The world isn`t perfect, there are nations controlled by a ruthless tyrant at the helm of said nation that force their own people into labor and heartbreak, while people of other nations abuse their rights to attack and irritate other individuals of a joined society. In a conclusion though, this is unfortunately a branch of how human nature works in the 21st century.

Nowadays, people are taking notice of those who abuse their rights and try to stop it. This sounds good, oh wait, sometimes this goes too far as well.

Skial, to be terse with my opinion, heavily scolding individuals for a small term does`t cease injustice. People should`t be banned for saying a joke that is barely offensive or is supposed to be uplifting FOR A MONTH *cough cough*. In fact, even if your admins were to permanently mute/gag and ban 50 of what you`d probably consider rule-breakers, others will keep joining the cesspool of rebellion.

Yes, I get it, I`m being too dramatic over a game, there is a reason rules are made, and that this won`t change jack for Skial because many other people have probably written a rant such as this.

Although I just wanted to.. voice my opinion.

A month`s worth of no talking just for saying two words is somewhat too extensive

Invoking the first amendment would be a good argument if Skial was U.S. Congress. It isn't, though.

And if you wanted your month silence changed you should be posting in the appeals subforum.

The First Amendment protects your right to free speech. It does not protect you from the consequences of that speech, e. g. being a racist asshole.

I forgot Skial wasn't a private corporation and was liable to conditions like making sure every single person who plays on our server is happy

Oh, wait

Others have already pointed it out but to make it as clear as possible, the first amendment basically says the government can't do anything to take away your freedom of speech.

But private (non-government) places have the right to "silence" people as they see fit. It's why schools can punish children for cursing, its why TV networks can selectively censor or refuse to air anything they deem offensive and its why we can silence people for breaking the rules.

You can say what the fuck you like, but Skial has no obligation to give you a platform.

You're on the internet, and it is a private entity, they are able to remove users they see fit. Moreover, as chuckwagon mentioned, the First Amendment protects your ability to say it, not from consequences of saying it.

If we could stray away from my previous messages, I have checked SourceBans and while I checked the length of my latest mute/gag it said it would expire today at 11:22, yet, it has not expired. As of when I`m typing this, it`s 1:32 PM(or 13:32) where I live(Eastern Time Zone). Could I have some insight on what is going on? An error maybe?
