Huh...that's an exceedingly agressive strategy.

In that case, I will blacklist your servers. I shouldn't have to play "will I get permabanned for no reason" roulette just because of my ISP.

Goodbye.

Oh, also - could you add a new category to your bans, then?

It's categorized as a proxy ban, but that isn't correct. You're blacklisting Verizon Wireless IPs, the ban record should reflect that.

Sourcebans does not have a way to know what ISP your IP belongs to, so it simply does that the "Proxy IP" reason. You also haven't really articulated why you feel the need to use a MiFi or phone tether (whichever you're using) to play a video game online. Just pay for a regular ISP, and this wouldn't be an issue. Have a nice day.

Unfortunately we have had a lot of problems with hackers using Verizon Wireless by tethering and getting a new IP simply by power cycling their phone to avoid ip bans.

If Verizon Wireless is your only choice, then I would recommend setting up your own vpn for private use.

You may think this is "exceedingly agressive" but we used to have people making 20 alt accounts a day like this to bypass bans, and very few people have complained or use wireless as their main internet connection.

Thanks for the responses! I appreciate it.

Well, you may add me to that list.

Huh, really? The solution that will keep me from being banned for using a proxy...is using a proxy? Neat - at first, I was worried I accidentally left my VPN on and that was the reason I'd been banned. I'll keep that in mind if I play again in the future.

Oh, well excuse me for being poor. This is obviously my fault.

I can't afford a separate cable internet connection. I *can* afford a little extra on my family's cell phone plan.

It's unfortunate that Valve has put you in this situation, it would be nice if they had better methods to fingerprint problem users. I can think of more than a few things, off the top of my head. There has to be something more effective against what's essentially just scrambling your IP.

It's nonsense that it's such an unbeatable tactic for hackers to use.

Blacklisting Skial servers is working great so far! Mutual blacklisting, problem solved - no more bans :)
