Oh, yeah, I forgot to mention here that I had Windows working.

I've only used the computer a couple hours so far, but Win10 on the SSD boots in like 4-6 seconds. I had to format it from MBR to GPT when I was installing Win10 but that's pretty simple, and easy to find on the internet. Loading a map on Heroes and Generals went from taking about 30 seconds to like 5. I don't know about TF2 since steam keeps pausing my download for it, but I assume there's similar loading speeds to be had there.

I ended up not doing any cable management since the PSU cords were huge asspains, and the tablet camera is pretty grainy, but alright. When I get home tonight I'll take a few shots with the windowed panel on, and a few closer ones with it off.

Dude, it's PEBCAK, not motherboard's issue. What hard drive are you talking about. Plus, what H97 exactly have you bought? ASRock? Asus?

I ended up not doing any cable management when I built my newer pc earlier this year but quickly changed my tune when staring into the window on the case for a while, it's well worth the effort if you end up doing the cable management.

ASRock H97. And yeah I didn't realize my boot disks would only work with my old motherboard. Someone reminded me there's a media creation tool for Win10 so I used that on a USB stick and was able to get that working (although not authenticated yet since you have to upgrade the original win7 to get the win10 product key -- maybe this weekend)

Does the slightly better airflow really show itself in performance? I so far haven't found a need for that little boost, but OCD might get the better of me eventually.

Are you worried about your pc overheating? Just pour a bucket of water on it, if it turns off then the water was too cold and you will have to try again tel its just right. Baths work too and are preferred.

No, it's just worth it because of how nice and clean the inner case looks afterwards. Yay!

Well, I'm sorry but it's a somewhat common knowledge that OS hardly relies on hardware controllers built into the motherboard.

That little mounted thing on the right-hand side of the second pic is the SSD. About the size of a playing card. Didn't take a pic from the front since all the buttons and ports are on top (the front is just a blank, hinged door), but I can find a pic for that if you're curious.
