I have built my own computer about a year or two ago, this computer runs games at the highest quilty and such. But it has always had this problem where Valve games, Runescape and also Fallout games (anything with that engine) Will crash alot, with a black screen and tell me this.

Display driver NVIDIA Windows Kernel Mode Driver, Version 327.23 stopped responding and has successfully recovered.

At this point, I can not go back to the game and I have to go force quit the game. I have looked online a while back but did not find anything of use. I don't know if anyone here can help or had this problem and solved it. It is something with my graphics card and I got no idea what. I can play games at the highest just fine, only Valve games, Runescape and the Fallout/Skyrim engine. If anyone has any idea this would be nice as I got no idea.

I am having the same problem with Fallout New Vegas...

It was working, until I did some work with some mods, which I uninstalled the same day, and then it stopepd working, so I redownloaded the game and still nothing.

Sometimes redownloading the game helps.

Have you tried that, other than that it may have something do do with your drivers.

It may be something else in your computer. Not sure what else to tell you. Maybe you are missing some files on Steam or the game.

I uninstall my games alot when Im done with them, to save space as I only have 400Gigs. I uninstall and reinstall it alot. I can't play Fallout 3 anymore as it does not work, fallout Nv is normaly ok but does do it. Its mainly Valve games and Runescape. I solved the problem with Runescape slightly by lowing of how much power I use for the game, but it does not 100% fix the problem. Sometimes it goes so bad I get a blue screen of death.

If it is my drivers I have no idea, It has to be something with my graphics card. I just bought a 750 wat power supply a month ago. Nice and quiet now compaired to my 550. But the problem has not gone away.

(For Valve games) Funny part is, its only Tf2. Its always been Tf2 and Garrys mod. Half life 2 (And episodes) Dont do it, nor does Left 4 Dead. Its getting to the point where my head will...

This happens to me sometimes, but it never go to the point where I've had to exit the game. It'd always re open in less than a minute.

I would try the latest stable driver. If you still have the problem, try the latest beta driver. This could be the result of bad RAM. Run memtest86+ overnight and see if it repirts any errors.

It would be nice to know what ever you were talking about lol. I'm not huge on knowing about computers, I just play games on them. So keeping it simple would help.

Screenshot of the error from Event Log would help.
Well then that will have to wait. I said of what the error tells me on the bottom right corner of my screen, on Windows 7 it is the little chat box of what tells me. I said this is going to be a, "Will see." As I think I know how to fix it right now. Ill just mark this fixed-- for now.

Download and install one of these:
If running on 64 bit Windows Vista/7/8: http://us.download.nvidia.com/Windo...top-win8-win7-winvista-64bit-english-whql.exe
If running on 32 bit Windows Vista/7/8: http://us.download.nvidia.com/Windo...top-win8-win7-winvista-32bit-english-whql.exe

If you still have the issue, download this: http://www.memtest.org/download/5.01/memtest86+-5.01.iso.zip
Extract the .iso file from it. Burn this .iso file to a CD or DVD as an image. Your burning software will have an option like "burn image to disc" or something like that. Boot your computer from this disc. You'll have to hit one of the F keys at the top of the keyboard at the first screen you get when you turn your computer on in order to bring up the boot menu. This will run a test on your computer's memory. Let this run overnight or at least until it completes one pass. If this shows any errors, then the memory in your computer is bad.

Here is NVIDIA's explanation on your issue (called a TDR which means Timeout Detection and Recovery). Not much you can do except to downgrade your driver. I find that version 260.99 has the least crashed (for me at least).
