Its only asking who is not what your opinion on the matter is.

Thoughts aren't the same as opinions. What i said (or what i was trying to say) is that you should have at least a little bit of respect towards other religions then yours (even you think it is bullshit).

That would be useful input to the thread what I was saying is just talking trash about all religions is not needed.

Why are people religious?

I was raissed christian, but i don't believe in anything but science.
Why i think people became religious and why religions are/were such a big deal: in times of fear and when there is no hope, people need something to hold on too. Further do religions expain what science can't explain (yet). So it is a decent alternative.

Edit: i hope i don't insult anyone here, it's my opinion so feel free to disagree

I was raised Catholic. I no longer practice nor believe in it, but I can respect anyone's beliefs as long as they aren't shoving it in my face or hurting anyone/anything. Whatever gives people comfort and hope, I guess.

My family didn't give even the slightest attention to religion while I grew up, and we lived on the countryside with not much of a population (except cows) so I was pretty clueless about religion as a whole. Later I sang in a church choir for a few years and got in contact with Christinaity, found the whole idea rather pleasant and began going on some sort of weekly discussion group that was a sub-group of the church choir.

Unfortunately I had a rough time at the end of that and I had to leave the choir entirely, and in that way I lost the interest in continuing my involvement in religion, I kinda gave up on that it was something for me.

As of right now in our modern society, I don't think religion is going to survive much longer. As the older generations dies out, less people will actually believe and rather get involved with our progress in research and science. But I have never or will never judge anyone for being religious, it's their own choice.

I don't believe there is with out a doubt a God nor do I know if there isn't one. Not sure what that makes me

Either way no side can undeniably prove anything anyway

I'm sorry to hear that leaving the choir impacted your religion as well.
I disagree about your last part, Christianity can be very prominent depending on where you live. For example, the South and the Bible Belt in particular.

As for me, I am non-denominational. Grew up Baptist, but I dislike the stigma associated with sects of Christianity.

I would like to state for the purpose of this thread that Christianity has many differing sects with different beliefs, and people have different opinions within those sects.
So if you have been treated wrongly by a Christian, please don't assume that is how all Christians will act.

Something weird is going on here. Tomato has been gone for a while and then he shows up and posts a thread about Christianity. You got converted or something?
