This is not a suggestion on how to change the forums, but a suggestion on how to change us.

We have multiple EU servers and some non-English speakers that use our NA servers. These people are our clients, our customers so-to-speak.

They take the trouble to come to this forum for help with problems. They are forced to communicate in OUR language. A lot of the time they can cobble together words well enough to understand the gist of what they are trying to say. How many of us could do that? I know that I couldn't without some major Google translate help. And even then, that might cause some of translation problems we see with non-English speakers.

Yes, there are annoying kids that can't bother to type with any semblance of grammar. So yes, continue to pick on Jonathon. :troll:

But when people come in with reports and things, I think we should assume they don't speak English first.

I mean there are those autistic 10 year olds appealing reports and then there are actual non-english speaking members.

The difference.
One is a dick and yells at members.
The other mentions they aren't good at speaking English and asks to be pardoned.

I think we should stop ridiculing ANYONE when it comes to reports and bans and since CiNiC's post on that forums to keep it clean there has been some mockery and it hurts our reputation badly from the outside looking in, as funny or ridiculous as we see it from the inside.

You read the forums all the time, shouldn't that count for something?

If English isn't their first language I can always pardon them. If people clearly know English and refuse to use proper grammar when in professional situations, that is when I can ridicule them.

Agreed. If you think you are intelligent enough to criticize someone for bad grammar/spelling, they you'd better be intelligent enough to distiguish if is is a language barrier or a stupid/lazy barrier.

Also apologies Jonathan, I spelled your name wrong earlier.

Do you go to school?

I don't mean it in an offensive way but I'm just curious.

I think the ridicule of bad English is part of a bigger problem where too many people are subscribed to the idea that being a cockhat to someone with questions or not completely attuned to the community nets you more cool guy points than being genuinely helpful or at least friendly.

Nearly every time I see Skial brought up on other websites the opinion that repeatedly comes up is "their servers are great but stay away from the forums". Only so many times can that be written off as "they're probably sore about a votemute" before it needs to be addressed as a problem.

Not vouching for a hugbox but if people could cool their jets around new or ESL people I think it would go a long way.

This. All of my this. I think it's about time we reform our approach to forum moderation, especially in the support section.

These are the official support and discussion forum for the largest and best TF2 pub network, not a playground for a select few people to lurk incoming reports and circlejerk on the angry Russian.

I do but the point is I never lay my ass up,go to the liberty & pick a book

You should try it sometime, there are plenty of great stories and authors that you might like if you can spare some time to try them out.
