This is a new gaming rig? What exactly are you planning on running...

I mean, Dishonored just came out and has a 460 GTX as minimum requirements.

Cool case though.
I was discussing that with him last night, and the latest 600 series NVIDIA cards look very nice, even the GTX 650 TI has some power under it for such a small card, and it's only about $175-$200.

Yeah I understand people are on budgets but I'd never get an NVIDIA card under the *60 range if it was intended for serious gaming. Even the 460/560/660s are middle of the range cards.

Better off buying used I'd say than something new and underpowered.

I should note I'm using 2 460's in my current rig... bought them a year ago because this setup cost 1/2 as much as a 580 and outperformed it on benchmarks. That said -- if I had to do it over again I'd go with a single card setup. Really not impressed with SLI and it doesn't do so well in 1200p.

Well after watching Newegg's benchmarks, dual GTX 660 TIs in SLI outperformed the GTX 670 and almost outperformed the GTX 680. So IMO, GTX 660 TI is the more powerful NVIDIA card out there currently.

Not really understanding what you mean. The GTX 670 is still more powerful than the 660 Ti, and yes dual 660s will outperform a 670 and 680 in SLI. However, what really annoys me is how few games are optimized for SLI. It is almost embarrassing at this point... Guild Wars 2 comes to mind.

I've had my GTX 450 for about a year, and I just couldn't fit a new card into my budget, besides, it's still doing a great deal of service. Before the PC upgrade I couldn't play Operation Raccoon City on it's lowest settings, and I knew it wasn't my card, now with the new PC and the same card, I'm playing the game at max settings across the board.

When it comes to SLI, even if a game isn't very optimized for it, you're still getting your money's worth. Crossfire with Radeon cards on the other hand, I don't know much about. But lol Radeon, right?

Anyway, Probex can we get a full list of your Pc specs, all you listed was the OS, the CPU, the GPU, and the RAM. I have no clue what Motherboard you have, and what PSU you have. Knowing the wattage of your current PSU will help determine what GPU is right for you.

My machine isn't built for gaming, but after setting TF2 to run in DX8 instead of 9, and tweaking the graphics settings a bit, I get 100+ FPS.
I hope you have a monitor capable of displaying framerates that high. Otherwise it is entirely pointless. Most of the midrange to low monitors are 59-60hz refresh, so hitting 100fps wont look any different than 60fps. However if you have a higher end monitor (120hz+) then I guess I could understand. Ive never seen a point in having that high of a refresh tho, since human eyes are only capable of distinguishing differences around 30fps. Anything above that really won't look much different.

Nope.
yes you can only see 60 of those frames per second but the image looks at lot smoother and consistent at 120fps even if you dont' have a 120hz monitor.
If i get below 90fps in a game it feels horrible. I like being able to do a 180 turn in game with the game looking as smooth as possible.

edit: of course my personal perception
