Team Talk is now on Skial. In order to use it though requires a little bit of work from you. Here are the basic instructions:

Copy/paste this into your autoexec.cfg

Code:
alias +teamonly "+teamtalk;+voicerecord"
alias -teamonly "-teamtalk;-voicerecord"

bind f +teamonly
bind v +voicerecord

Replace "f" with the button you wish to use for team chat and "v" with the button you wish to use for all chat, or leave them assigned as is. V is already the talk button by default.

All set.

Don't have an autoexec.cfg? Let's make one!
  • Navigate to your TF directory. It should be found here
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Team Fortress 2\tf

32-bit Windows Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\Team Fortress 2\tf
Mac ~\Library\Application Support\Steam\SteamApps\common\Team Fortress 2\tf
Linux ~\.steam\root\SteamApps\common\Team Fortress 2\tf

  • Next, create a folder and name it "custom"
Now inside the custom folder create another folder and name it anything you want. I named mine "config" inside config create a folder named "cfg"

This is where our custom autoexec.cfg will go.
  • Create autoexec.cfg
This is easily done by creating a new text document. Now paste the team talk info into the document. after you are done rename it from "autoexec.txt" to "autoexec.cfg"
Windows will give you this warning:

Just say yes.

Alternatively you can copy config.cfg from /tf/cfg folder into the custom/config/cfg folder and rename it autoexec.cfg then simply edit with notepad or some text editor.

Now you are all set! You can voice chat with your team or with the entire server on Skial.

This is pretty cool, we should have some way to tell people who play on the servers but are not on the forums though

Some people have messaged me saying they can't create an autoexec.cfg

If you are having trouble converting the .txt to .cfg then try this:

While navigating your TF2/custom folder press ALT then go to Tools>Folder Options

Select the View tab and uncheck "Hide extensions for known file types"

Now when you rename it from .txt to .cfg it will change the file type.

Windows 8 instructions: http://www.groovypost.com/howto/windows-8-display-file-extensions/

OR you can use the other method I described which is to copy config.cfg and rename it autoexec.cfg then just add the Team Talk code to this file.
